It's been awhile since I've put anything up, and I'm not sure when I'll be able to post any of the things I've been working on, so... sketchbook it is, and another bird.. not the prettiest faces, but their feathers sure make up for it! Everything has beauty and ugliness, you just have to choose which one you want to see I guess.
I started this so long ago, and then got busy doing other things and sort of forgot about it.. cleaning out some of my work space (a very small portion), I decided to finally finish it and get it out of the way.
A couple of months I found this stool at a thrift store for $10. As ugly as it was, I like this style of chair for my work space and thought I might be able to fix it up a little..
This is my first attempt at re-upholstering anything. I need to learn how to cut the foam smoothly, but otherwise I think it's an improvement over the original. I had some plain white fabric lying around, and embroidered the bird and branches. As I've said before, I like birds!
I had the opportunity to illustrate my first book recently for the Manteo Waterfront resort.. The first image is the cover they designed, and the second was my concept.
I have a problem. Whenever I go out walking, I collect things I find on the ground. Rocks, interesting sticks, rusty nuts and bolts. My amazingly, talented boyfriend Matt made this bench for our front stoop out of salvaged wood. I think it used to be part of an old farmhouse, and made it's way into the burn pile. Makes a great bench.
I was recently given the opportunity to make some vector images for the wonderful duo Rose and Allison from Ciccia Design to use on their website. This first set of sketches is for the Service section. Below are the vectors...
These sketches are for the process section, the concept: something being built or made. The original sketch they chose was all men, but as they are both women, I was asked if I could substitute one of the men for a lady. I could...
With this group of sketches, the original plan was an image for their pro bono section, but, they decided to go an entirely different route, and requested an image for their contact page. This is what we came up with.
So for the past little while I've been working on a project for one of the local hotel's younger clientele. These are some of the initial character concepts.. His name is Bennett.
It's my boyfriend's birthday today, and I have a bit of an aversion to buying wrapping paper. Especially since I've got so much scrap paper lying around the house.. so I generally make my own. One example...
